US ELECTION 2008
The Circus

OK, it’s about time I started a discussion on the 2008 US presidential race. Actually, I am overdue. So, this is the first installment of a series of articles on this topic. So hang on and enjoy the ride. It is going to be a rough ride between now and November.
After watching last night’s “debate” in Philadelphia , which can actually be called “The Ambush at Philly”, I couldn’t help wonder if there wasn’t some kind of conspiracy to keep Obama from becoming president. I tell ya, there was no brotherly love coming from the city of “The Brotherly Love” - Philadelphia . There was a lotta hatin’ coming from George ‘Judas’ Stephanopoulos, Charles ‘I am Walter Cronkite damn it’ Gibson and ABC against Sen. Obama. It was 4 against 1, and one of them (John McCain) wasn’t even there and had a fabulous night by his proxies. Oh, and by the way Georgie boy, how does it feel to be a water carrier for the right wing tool like Sean Hannity? Hell of a reporter you are, Georgie boy!
It is obvious Mrs Clinton is using the ‘scorched earth’ tactic or in Amharic, ‘ene kemotku serdo ayibkel’ tactics. She knows she has no chance of winning the nomination, so what she is doing is making sure that Obama doesn’t win the presidency by practically siding with the Republicans and destroying his chances. So, how does that benefit her? Well, that sets up the stage for 2012 since McCain has already made it clear that he is going to be a one term president. Yes, that’s how the Clintons play politics. They can be even dirtier than the Republicans. They have shown that to the world throughout this campaign.
So, the question is, where is the Democratic Party? Why aren’t they stopping this assault on a brutha? What are they waiting for? Why aren’t the so called ‘Super Delegates’ coming out and saying ‘enough is enough’ and cast their votes for Obama, who has proven to be the much better candidate than Republican-lite Hillary Clinton? What are they waiting for - a signal from Super Man himself? Seriously, this is getting ugly. They know the math does not add up for Hillary and poll after poll shows that Democrats prefer Obama over her. Is there some kind of conspiracy here against brother Obama? It makes you wonder, doesn’t it? I will have more to say about this whole mess soon.
Chereka

Whatever happened to substance issue questions like health care, mortgage crisis, FISA, the environment (the same day Bush gave a ridiculous speech about) and if they were being "fair" and asking appropriate questions like they claimed, why didn't they ask Hillary about what she thinks about Monica or if she has really killed Vince Foster!!
The worst debate ever!! I hope in November Obama would decline debating on ABC news! It wasn't a good night for him at all. Like you said, he was outnumbered.
Love the picture, BTW! Good one.

I came here accidentally. It is a great blog. And both of you said about what I thought of those racist so-called journalists and the "she-devil" herself, who along with "her idiotic husband" (Gennifer Flower's words); and what I think of them? --- nothing. The Clintons are now coming out with their true color: the color of grabbing power by any means. They would do anything to return to the White House for the third time.
Have you been watching these cable channels? All including CNN seem to be on the side of Clinton except for Chris Mathews and Keith Oberman(?) on MSNBC. Those conservatives, especially Pat Buchanan, Scarborough and a host of these conservatives are solidly behind Clinton. I get so mad I have stopped watching them. I usually read the Drudge Report which, for some reason, is against Hillary although when I last checked Drudge was a conservative -- but he seems to be pro-Obama now. Anyway those conservatives, although they are for Hillary, it doesn't mean they would vote for her if she won the nomination.(God forbid!) They just want to delay Obama's run and give more time for their candidate, Macain.
Obama should do something different to win the next two primaries -- Indiana and North Carolina, so that he can convince the superdelegates to side with him. No more nice guy!
Anyway I just wanted to say my two cents. Great blog.
I hope to be back later. (Comment this)
IMHO Americans are taking forgranted what they have and I am telling you they are not going to wake up until all the glory is gone. Pretty soon we will end up with price tags on our backs of how much Chinese yuan we owe. It is pathetic.

Welcome!
You're right. All the neo-cons want "Tonya Harding" Clinton to be in the ring with McCain coz they know she is easier to defeat than Obama. I second your point about the main stream media's bias against Obama too. The Democratic Party is also playing its part by passively allowing this witch to go on and on and on, as Chereka brilliantly put it with her "scorched earth" strategy.
I think the Democratic Party has some sort of systematic racism or white supremacy issues that it needs to address. Otherwise, why would they allow the black front runner, who is leading in the popular vote and pledged delegates to fend for himself, while another so called "democrat" (or diet Republican as my friend refers to her) is allowed to constantly move her goal post, so she can catch up??
Don't you think if the situation was reversed (Clinton leading Obama); they would forced him to withdraw the day after Super Tuesday?? I'm so sick of Howard Dean's empty rhetoric telling the super delegates to endorse too. He should do all of us a huge favor and ask Mrs. Rocky Balboa wanna be to quit her pointless fight, instead!! That should solve all our headaches and everybody can focus on beating McCain, who is so getting a free ride coz of all these nonsense.
BTW, I'm a huge Olbermann fan too. He is so smart and so witty . I love him!! I always thank my friend, who got me watching the show a couple of years ago. Chris Matthews not so much :) he just likes to hear himself talk, I don't even know why he has guests on his show…he doesn‘t let anybody talk…he just yells and gets hyper for no reason!! .and half of the time, I feel like he doesn't even know what the hell he is talking about anyway :) I can live without him...idiot racists like Buchanan and Scarborough need to be on FOX News!
Hope to see you more often in the blog. (Comment this)
Wow! Exactly my sentiment, only that you expressed it much better. I loved the "Tonya Harding" example and I hope that, as Chereka pointed out, Hillary's "scorched earth" tactics will come to nothing eventually.
BTW if I may ask you a personal question? Could you be the same Mimi whom I admired at the Coffee House of the late Medrek? If that is so, I loved your comments along with those of others like FM, Keremela, Zizi, Ketsela, Jim and others who distinguished themselves in the discussions. I often visited the Forum although I didn't contribute much to the discussions. I usually stopped by the Coffee House. However, I was sorry to see Medrek go. I miss those times.
Believe it or not because of what happened to Medrek, I opened an Ethiopian Forum recently. I am not that good in IT but for the moment it serves the purpose. You may check it at http://ethiopian.freeforums.org/index.php
For now the site is empty but if you and your friends give me a helping hand we can run it in no time. Of course, we can also continue to visit Chereka.
The aim of the new Ethiopian Forum is to try to bring back the former Medrek participants.
